How To: Nail Polish Sponge Art

So I was reading my morning blogs yesterday, as usual, and I saw so many NOTDS where people had used sponges to apply their nail polish, which I think is such creative and fabulous idea. I'm always in the mood to experiment, especially with my nails, so I thought I would give it ago.

So this is what I (with very little nail polish ability, I may add) achieved.

Sephora By OPI Havana Dreams
Here is what you will need if you, want to give it a go yourself:

I originally wanted to use Barry M blue moon , but it was too sheer.
3 Nail Polish Colours (of your choice) I chose:
Barry M Grey, Navy & Sephora By OPI Havana Dreams.
Topcoat & Basecoat
Nail Polish Remover & Cotton Buds
Sponges (duh lol)
Glitter (which is optional, I used NYX Silver Glitter)

I first applied a basecoat as dark colours always tend to stain my nails, I then applied 2 coats of Barry M Grey. I waited for my nails to be completely dry, as I didn't want the sponge to dent or brush off any of the grey, Next I put a bit of Havana Dreams on a sponge and started blotting away. I did the same thing with the navy colour and then waited for it to dry.

I personally love the colour combination, as they are 3 of my favourite colours.

Lastly I put on a topcoat and when it was still tacky, I added some glitter to make it a bit more fun.

I am so happy with how they turned out, I'm not going to lie at the beginning they looked vile, so glad I persevered, it did take me a while though, about an hour, so it's not something to do if you are going somewhere. I love it, so thank you to whoever came up with this amazing idea, it fab, and so fun.

Let me know what you think, have you tried out this technique?

XOXO Claire
