How To: Does A White Basecoat Intensify Your Nail Polish Colour?

Today's nail of the day is a tad different, I decided to try something I've not tried before. I applied a white nail polish before my actual polish to see if it intensified the colour.

Sinful Colours Snow Me White Nail Polish
I used Sinful Colours Snow Me White and I have to say I was really impressed with this polish, I only had to use too coats and it was opaque. I've tried a mini white polish before that was from OPI but I didn't think much of it, it was very sheer, so I'm very happy with this one, it was so cheap too, it cost $0.99, which is amazing value for money.

Now on to the actual polish I choose:
Essie Tour De Finance Nail Polish

I decided to use a mini from the Essie spring collection called Tour De Finance, which I have to admit I don't really understand the name, but it's a lovely colour. It's a gorgeous hot pink, that's perfect for summer.

The white undercoat definitely made it apply smoother, but I still had to do 2 coats as you could still see the white coming through underneath. I think painting white on your nails first is fine for lighter colours like pastels to make them pop, but it's not really necessary for brighter colours, it's just another step which make the whole process take a lot longer.

Let me know if you use a white polish under your regular polish, are you a fan of Essie?

  7. wow it looks so so so vibrant! When you have used it on its own (without the white) before, has the finished result been quite so bright? I don't tend to layer polished unless it's a specific topcoat or effects coat but I might give it a whirl too.

    Love your blog.

    1. I haven't actually used it on it's own yet, but it is quite a pigmented colour. I think the white would work better under more pastel colours. :)
