Beauty Edit: Current Skincare Routine 2012

I'm sure it's no secret how much I love skincare, I've probably mentioned it countless times and I'm always researching new products to try, it's an ongoing saga with me lol. Lately I have found a nice collection of products that have been working really well for me, so I thought I would do an updated routine for you.

Now I just want to say before I start that most of the skincare products I use are highend and the reason for that is simply because I think taking good care of your skin is so important, especially as you get older. I really don't mind spending a bit more money on higher quality products, that said I just bought some face wipes from primark and I think they are really nice lol. Beware this might be a long post.

Ok lets get started, I have an oily-normal skin type, now on to the products:

These are the products I use every morning:

Skincare Routine 2012
Cleanser: Origins Checks & Balances Frothy Face Wash or Philosophy Purity.
My morning cleanser depends on what I feel like at the time, although I would say I gravitate more towards the Origins one, though they both are lovely. They leave my skin feeling nice and clean and they both smell amazing. I definitely recommend them especially if you need a bit of a pick me up in the morning, they really wake you up, which is a plus in my book lol.

Toner: Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic.
This is the only toner I use morning & night. It's an amazing product that leaves your skin nice and refreshed, plus it's so gentle it's a perfect base for your serum & moisturiser. I'm almost out of my bottle and I can say without any doubt that I will 100% be re-purchasing another one.

Serum: Estee Lauder Idealist or Origins Brighter By Nature.
I have quite a lot of hyper-pigmentation, especially around my eyes and I also have a bit of scaring from spots (which I think is probably due to how pale my skin is) so I like to use the brighter by nature to try and reverse some of those problems. I use the Idealist on my t-zone area because I have really large pores, especially on my nose and it works really well. I definitely recommend this serum for people who have problems with their pores, you can even go to a Estee Lauder counter and ask for a sample bottle, it will last you quite a while.

Moisturiser: Origins Brighter By Nature Skin Tone Correcting Moisturiser or La Roche Posay Effaclar M.
I like to use the Brighter By Nature moisturiser to help combat my hyper-pigmentation, plus it's a really nice  creamy moisturiser that contains a high SPF (35). As I have have oily skin I like to mix a bit of La Roche Posay Effaclar M in specifically for my t-zone, as that's where I suffer with oil the most. Together they offer a nice combination of moisture, sun protection and oil-freeness (is that a word lol).

Eye Cream: Origins GinZing Eye Cream.
This is the last step in my morning skincare routine (when I remember lol) I apply this eye cream right before my make up. I've found that it definitely brightens up my under eye area although the effect is only temporary, I don't think it's made a difference to my dark circles overall. It does however leave your under eye area lovely and moisturized and it makes applying concealer so much easier, cakey under eye concealer be gone.

Now onto my nighttime skincare routine:

Makeup Remover: Bioderma.
This is the only makeup remover I use, it completely removers everything without any hassle. I recently did a review of this products so you can read it in full here if you're interested.

Toner: Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic
Same as before, because it's amazing.

Serum: Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair.
This is the skincare product that I will definitely be repurchasing, it's brilliant for getting rid of spots and helping reduce redness, as well as making your skin as smooth as a baby's bottom. I really can't say enough good things about this product, yes it's expensive but I personally I think it's worth it.

Nighttime Moisturiser: Philosophy Hope In A Jar or Estee Lauder Daywear.
I use hope in a jar at nighttime as it's a lovely thick mousturiser that keeps my skin hydrated, but at the same time it doesn't leave my skin oily , it's the perfect mix. I like to switch between the two so that my skin doesn't get too used to one in particular.

Eye Cream: Philosophy Hope In A Tube.
This is one step that I miss quite a lot oops, but I want to get into a routine of regularly using it, so I had to mention it. I have a major fear of crows feet and as I'm getting a bit older Id like to keep them at bay for as long as possible. Prevention is the key kids lol.

Lips: Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Skin Protectant.
I smother this on my lips every morning and night to keep them soft and chap free and I can certainly see why Elizabeth Arden has it's cult status. This has even replaced my Blistex and I never thought that would happen. The 8 hour cream now has my allegiance lol.

There are a few other products that I use, like a face mask and an exfoliator, but as I only use those once every 2 weeks, I didn't think it was worth including them.

So there we have it my updated skincare routine, feel free to recommend products that you think I might like, I'm always on the lookout for new and exciting products to try. Skincare junkie alert.

 XOXO Claire
