Product Review: Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Cream Eyeshadow in 82 Emerveille

In my dream world my whole make up collection would consist of Chanel products, though in that same dream world, we would sleep on clouds, chocolate would be calorie free and dogs could talk lol, but unfortunately I live in the real world where Chanel products are ridiculously expensive. I've been pining for this eyeshadow for almost a year now, but I never I got around to picking it up, I think it was mainly the price tag that kept putting me off, but...

Can we first take a moment to appreciate the beautiful packaging, it just screams sophistication and glamour. I love the Chanel emblem, it's so classic.

Now lets have a look at the actual shadow itself:

One word... stunning!

The formulation of this eyeshadow is a little different to what I'm used to, it's a very light mouse consistency, that drys to a powder finish. I was expecting it to be a tad more pigmented than it actually was, purely for the price, but I think it's supposed to give a wash of colour that you can build up.

Here's a swatch:
Chanel Illusion D'Ombre 82 Emerveille Swatched
L-R Swatched with Urban Decay primer potion,  then on it's own.

As you can see, it's definitely more pigmented over the top of a primer, it sort of intensifies the colour a little bit more and makes it have more of a golden undertone as opposed to peach. It does have a bit more glitter than I was expecting, so I'm not exactly sure they are worth the price tag, I think you're paying for the name rather than the actual product.

That said, don't get me wrong, I really like the colour, I just don't think I will be buying any more from the collection. I definitely plan on showing what it looks like in a FOTD soon, I've just been majorly slacking lately, sorry about that, I've not been wearing much make up over the last few weeks, I think it's because I've been under the weather.

Let me know if you've tried any of the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Shadows? Are they worth the money?

XOXO Claire
