How To: Rose Gold Half Moon Nail Art

This nail look may not be specifically autumn themed, but it looked so pretty I just had to show you. Now when I think of the phrase "half moon" I instantly get the image of a particular Jaffa Cakes advert, you know the one. " Full moon, half moon, total eclipse" great now I'm craving jaffa cakes, anywho I'm getting of topic, here's my first attempt at half moon nail art.

I first applied 2 coats of Orly Rage, which is one of my all time favourite metallic nail polishes and left my nails to dry for a good hour. While I was waiting I decided to abuse my brothers Netflicks account by watching Gossip Girl haha. It's becoming a bit of a tradition for me to paint my nails while I watch GG. How do you paint yours?

After my nails were completely dry, I placed a self adhesive reinforcement ring, basically a little round sticker over the cuticle area and painted the rest of the nail with Essie Go Ginza. I did two coats so it completely covered the gold colour then gently removed the sticker. As you can see it reveals a lovely rose gold semicircle. Now I know mine aren't 100% perfect, I did have to do a few touch ups where a bit of the gold came off, but I think finding the best technique  will come with time, as you go along and iron out the kinks.

I really love the colour combination, even though it's not very autumnal, oh well, it least now I can try it with darker colours

Have you tried the half moon nail art trend? Any favourite colour combos?

P.S I have no idea why I decided to put a piece of potpourri in the pictures, I guess it was my attempt of being artsy haha.

XOXO Claire

  1. I haven't tried this trend but it looks beautiful! I love your choice of colours too, I might try an iridescent teal with a silver glitter, could look quite snazzy!
