Product Review: Lush Big Shampoo

Finding a good shampoo is quite a hard task. The market is saturated with so many brands, it can get a little overwhelming, especially in the supermarket. That may be one of the reasons why over the last year or so I've been favoring higher end hair products. Another reason is the ingredient list. Cheaper hair products tend to use more "filler" ingredients that aren't necessarily the best for your hair, so I don't mind the investment if it means my hair is healthier.

Lush are experts in only using the best ingredients, so when I got the Big Shampoo for Christmas last year, I knew I would be onto a winner.

Lush Big Shampoo £12.75 330g

This shampoo is probably the most unique shampoo I've ever come across. The main ingredient is salt! Yes you heard right, salt. Not only that it also contains lots of healthy hair ingredients like seaweed, extra virgin coconut oil, fresh organic lime juice and fresh seawater. You don't have to worry about any nastys here.

Ok now that's been said, lets move on. As the name would suggest, this shampoo is all about volume. I've used a few shampoos aimed at creating volume before, but none of them really delivered.. until now. This shampoo gives me a tonne of body, plus is smells amazing! like margaritas.

I work a 10p sized amount into my wet roots, which at first was a little strange, especially feeling the grains of salt on my scalp, but you just work it into a lather, wash your locks and then rinse. I like to do it twice just because of the sheer amount of hair I have, but it leaves your hair so clean, without feeling dry which is a big plus! Though I wouldn't recommend using it everyday, it's a bit too clarifying for that.

It can leave your ends a bit tangley, but I just use a good conditioner or treatment and that solves that problem. I can definitely see a difference when I'm combing it through, especially at my roots, they just look lifted.

Compared to other high end brands like Bumble & Bumble & Bed Head, £12.50 for 330g is a really good deal. The tub is so big and you only need a small amount, this shampoo will last you a long time. Though like most Lush products they do have a shelf life, for Big you have a year. Overall I 100% recommend it, it's luxurious and does what it says on the tin/tub, perfect!

Have you tried Big or any of Lushes hair products? I'm definitely interested in trying a few more, so leave me any suggestions below.

XOXO Claire

  5. I've been into Lush but not bought anything due to just the sheer amount of products they have, I wouldn't know where to begin! However I'm definitely going to go in when I have a free half an hour and talk to one of the sales assistants who can help me find the perfect hair/skin products :)

    1. It might help to look at their website before hand and read reviews! I always do that when I know I'll be going into Lush, and I have a list with me so I can just go look at those products and not be so overwhelmed.

  7. I've been on the lookout for a volumising shampoo for so long! This looks great! I'm using bumble and bumble at the moment and I do love it but I don't think it delivers on giving volume and texture - not on my hair anyway! x

  8. I have tried a sample of this, but it is a bit too expensive for me here in the US ($26.95!). I did really like it though, so I know one day I will buy it, because it does come with a lot of product in the tub. I do love their solid shampoos, though. They say to rub it three times on your hair, which doesn't sound like it'd be nearly enough, but it is. they lather so well! I also love I Love Juicy shampoo, and I just bought some yesterday :)
