Updated Make Up Collection 2013 (Featuring The Ikea Alex)

A few weeks ago I decided it was finally time to sort out my make up storage, it was starting to take over my room and was becoming a quite a hassle to get ready. In true Blogger style I made a dash to Ikea to pick up the very famous "Alex" 9 Drawer Unit. I'd love to sit here and say I put it together myself but that would be a lie, I posses no diy skills whatsoever! So my lovely mum offered and I gratefully accepted.

Just a warning, this post might be quite long and picture heavy, so grab a cuppa.

The Alex was the perfect fit for me as I manged to store all my make make up, plus a few other bits and pieces, flawlessly. The drawers are just the right size, the first five are shallow and the last 4 are a little deeper. Right, enough of my waffling, let me show you what's inside, draw by draw.

Draw 1 |
Models Own Nail Polish Collcetion
This first draw houses my Models Own, Barry M and miscellaneous nail polishes, as well as my topcoats, basecoats ect. In colour coded order of course.

Draw 2 |
Foundation Collection
Foundations and concealers are kept in this second draw, the latter of which are contained in a Muji Desk Organizer (I just took the divider out).

Draw 3 |
Makeup Collection
In this draw I again have Muji storage boxes in the small & medium, which contain primers & setting sprays, powders, brow gel & nude eyeliners.

Draw 4 |
Makeup Collection
Meet one of my most colourful draws, here we have all types of blushes, cream powder, mineralized plus bronzers & highlighters. All housed in, you guessed it, Muji Desk Organizers.

Draw 5 |
My Eyeshadow Collection
I do like my eyeshadows, so on the right we have 4 Medium Organizers which contain my Cream Shadows, Mac Eyeshadows, Nars duos ect. On the left in a Small Organizer are my NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils. Stacked at the back are my palettes, we have Urban Decay, Stila & Wet & Wild.

Draw 6 |
Makeup Collection
This draw holds mini Mac Pigments, Barry M Dazzle Dusts, eyeliners, mascaras & my Shu Uemura eyelash curlers, which are stored in a bunch of random containers.

Draw 7 |
Lipstick Collection
Lip products are definitely my "thang" as you can see. I do have a bit of a Mac lipstick problem, I think I have 28 in total, yes, it is becoming a problem! On the bottom left we have lower end lipsticks, on the right mostly Mac. On the far right we have an acrylic lipstick holder from Ebay, which holds my favourites. The rest are different lipglosses from various brands.

Updated Make Up Storage (Featuring The Ikea Alex)
This draw is my miscellaneous draw, it has nail art wheels, striping tape, nail brushes, extra topcoats & basecoats, nail polish remover, cotton pads & PR samples.

Draw 9 |
Updated Make Up Storage (Featuring The Ikea Alex)
Lastly this draw houses all my hair tools, straighteners, curlers, hair dryer and my hair brushes. I didn't intend for hair stuff to be in this draw but they all fitted perfectly, it was obviously meant to be.

I definitely recommend this unit it's 100% worth the price (£90) in my opinion, plus it looks cute too, which is very important to us beauty bloggers, lets be honest haha. Extra blogger snaps if you can spot a certain TV show on in the background haha.

If you have any questions about anything feel free to leave a comment and I will make sure to get back to you

How do you store your make up? Have you joined the "Alex" club?

XOXO Claire
