How To: Find The Perfect Matching Red Lipstick & Nail Polish

I've always been a bold lip fan but my "red" lip affair evolved once my obsession with Taylor Swift began, red lips are definitely her signature, she's barely photographed without them. As an homage to Taylor and as I'm lucky enough to be traveling down to London as we speak to see her Red Tour (excited isn't a strong enough world) I thought I would show you a few of my favourite red beauty products.

Finding The Perfect Red Lipstick
Nars Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella
Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso
Lip Products:
Nars Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella
Topshop Velvet Matte Lipstick in Velveteen Ribbons
Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso
Urban Decay 24/7 Lip Pencil in Bang
Mac Russian Red Lipstick

Nail Polishes:
Ciate Boudoir
OPI The Thrill Of Brazil
Topshop Bittersweet
Estee Lauder Red

Finding a red lipstick that stays put was quite a task, but I think I've found a good selection that fit the bill, not to show favoritism but I do have my concert worthy lippy picked out. The Nars Matte Lip Pencil is a huge favourite of mine, but it was just a tad too dark for what I was going for today. The Topshop Velvet Matte Lipstick, while amazing, was not ideal as my lips are on the dry side at the moment, so I need something that's a bit more moisturising. The Urban Decay Bang Lip Pencil was a bit too orange for this occasion and the Mac lipstick takes a bit of time to apply, time which I probably won't have. So drum-roll please...

Enter Stila Liquid Lipstick in Beso.

Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso
(Sorry for the face fuzz,  it was the light haha)

This lipstick is absolutely amazing! It's been 4 hours since I took that photo and it's still intact, even after a giant cup of tea and sausage roll. It's not drying on the lips, it's actually really comfortable. One coat and it's completely opaque, very impressed! I have a feeling this won't be my last..

Here are the rest swatched:
Mac Russian Red
L-R Nars Cruella, Topshop Velveteen Ribbons, Urban Decay Bang, Mac Russian Red.

Now I've chosen my lipstick, it's time to pick my nail polish, uumm this might take a while haha. What are your favourite red lip products? I'm sure there will be a London post in the pipeline.

XOXO Claire

  1. What a fantastic idea for a blog post! I love red lipsticks & nail polishes but sometimes they're not always what could be considered true reds but these are all perfect! I love Mac's Russian Red and I also have that Top Shop Velvet Matte Lipstick too (if it's the one from the A/W 2013 Gothic Glam Collection!)

I hope you have a fab time at the Taylor Swift concert and I'm now following with Bloglovin'!

    1. Cruella is definitely one of my top red lippies, I will certainly make a note, I've really been into matte lips recently so those will be first port of call :)
