Beauty Edit: Is Double Cleansing The New Skincare Trend?

I remember when I used to wash my face with the family soap, I'm glad to say those days are firmly behind me, surely that's not hygienic? Nowadays my routine is a lot more thorough and I change my products just about as often as I change my clothes. There are even a few steps I do twice, think I'm off my rocker, find out why:

Cleansing to me is probably the most important step in my whole skincare routine. I love the squeaky clean feeling you're left with after giving your skin a good detox, it's like your washing away the day and starting anew.

To start with I like to remove the bulk of my make up by using a micellar water, my choice is normally Bioderma, though I have been trying another one recently that I'm enjoying, which I will fill you in on soon. Then I use my other favourite cleanser which is the Clinique Take The Day Off Balm. I've mentioned this balm a few times before but if you would like to read my review in full here you go. It really helps remove anything that the micellar water may have missed, while giving your skin a good clean at the same time.

Now my skin is nice and clean I turn my attention to my toners. A few times a weeks I like to use the brightening toner to help keep my skin clear. I'm not 100% sure if it does too much to my skin, but it doesn't aggravate it and it definitely looks a little brighter, even if the results aren't as drastic as some reviews say. To ward off any dryness that the Clarins toner might leave behind, I like to give my face a spritz with the Caudalie Grape Water. It really soothes and hydrates the skin leaving it ready for my serum. I also really like that it's a fine mist, it doesn't feel like you're dumping a load of water onto your skin.

I'm really liking this combination at the moment and my skin seems to agree as it's been looking pretty good recently. I am thinking of introducing an oil into my routine too, to use after my moisturiser, so if you have any recommendations, I'm all ears?

Do you have any double steps in your routine? What are your favourite skincare products of the moment?

XOXO Claire
