Makeu Up Edit: 5 Light Summer Bases

As the weather warms up a lighter base becomes essential, thick heavy foundations really don't hold up in hot, humid temperatures, not to mention how uncomfortable they feel on the skin. So I've put together a selection of my favourite light bases, both drugstore and high end in the hopes that there will be something for everyone, hopefully I've got all my "bases" covered, get it haha, ahem, lets get started.

Favourite Spring & Summer Foundations
Lets start with the newest addition the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream which is a lightweight cream that contains 3 pigments, apricot for anti-fatigue, green for anti-redness and white for dark spots. It probably offers the least coverage of them all, but it does give the skin a lovely glow, it's perfect for those good skin days, though it is the only one that doesn't contain an SPF.

Sticking with the double letter theme the Dior Nude BB Cream
was my go-to base last summer, it contains an SPF (10) so even though you need to use a higher SPF underneath it still gives a bit of added protection. Coverage wise it's higher than your average BB cream but it doesn't feel heavy on the skin. I also love that this one has a handy pump, which makes it the perfect travel companion.

Another holiday friendly base due to it's compact squeezy bottle is the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. As it's water based it's super light, again contains an SPF (15) and just melts into the skin. One thing I do notice though is because of the formula I normally have to use a little more product than the others.

If you're after a base with a good dose of SPF the Nars Tinted Moisturiser
is a good option, it contains the highest of all the products mentioned, with an SPF30 PA+++ (the more +'s the better) and gives the highest coverage. This is definitely the one I would suggest if you're going on a beach holiday as it's oil free. I think this may well be my holiday base this year!

The last offering in todays post is also the cheapest option. Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation is the only "foundation" on my list, though I use the word loosely as like the others it offers a light sheer coverage that includes an SPF of 20. If you are looking for a base that's inexpensive but that still gives you glowing skin this is for you, though it not very travel friendly thanks to it's screw top and glass bottle.

Let me know what your favourite Summer bases are?

XOXO Claire

  6. They all sound like great choices! I use pretty much the same foundations all year round here because of the constant humid and hot temperature. I usually switch between Bourjois healthy mix for something lighter or an asian bb cream for heavier coverage!
