Summer Beauty Essentials Edit

When the sun comes out, so do a few face and body essentials, whether you're going on a sun filled holiday or just to a simple family barbecue, preparation is key!

Summer Beauty Preparation
Neutrogena Ulta Sheer Sunscreen
Every girl needs a cute pair of sunglasses, not only for fashion purposes of course, we know they're a fab summer accessory, but to protect our peepers. Eyes are super sensitive to the sun so you need to make sure your sunglasses have the little uvb & uva sticker on the lenses, it's very important. As is finding a frame that suits your face shape. But you don't need to spend a fortune, these are from Dorothy Perkins and cost £8 yeah, amazeballs!

SPF (Body & Face)
Out of everything mentioned in this post, suncream is probably the most important! I like to use a high factor especially on my face (50)  but even on my body, I never use anything below (30). I also always use a moisturiser that contains an spf, like this one from Alpha H, for some added protection.

Self Tanner:
Let's be honest here, everyone looks better with a bit of colour, healthy, sun kissed, golden, whatever word you want to use for it (just to be clear I'm not talking towie haha) It is an oxymoron though isn't it, to get a bit of colour you're ultimately damaging your skin, it's not worth it, is it! Luckily self tanners have come a long way, this one from Cocoa Brown is new to my collection but you only have to leave it on for an hour for a light tan (genius). I've only used this one a few times so far, but look out for a full review in due course.

Keeping you skin moisturised after being in the sun is also very important, the sun does tend to dry and out the skin and if you're hot and a bit sweaty (yes I went there) odds are you're going to be a bit flaky too. After a few hours in the sun this Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Aftersun Coconut Papaya Lotion feels like heaven, it's so moisturising and soothing and it smells like a pina colada, your skin can thank me later. For something that gives a boost of hydration without the sticky feeling of a lotion you could try a dry oil and the Nuxe Dry Oil is a great choice, it also comes in a mini size, perfect for traveling.

Lip Balm:
As much as I love my Nuxe lip balm, it does have one downside, it doesn't contain any spf, so I picked up this Baby Lips Lip Balm from Maybelline to make sure my lips not only stay hydrated but chap and burn free. Lips are probably one of the most painful parts of your body you can burn, excluding private parts that is, ahem, moving on!

BB Cream:
Lastly lets talk a bit of make up. I think the majority of girls like a bit of a base no matter what they're doing, it just gives a bit of inner confidence. In the warm weather a no fuss bb cream is the way to go and this one from Dior has been my favourite. It offers a bit of coverage, has a nice mix between a glowy/matte finish, plus it contains an added spf, oh and it has a pump! (Sorry mines a bit grubby, there was a little eyeshadow incident..)

What are your favourite summer preparation products?

 XOXO Claire
