How To: Strobing 101

I may be a little late to the "Strobing" #Highlightonfleek party, but I got here eventually and I've been binge watching Jaclyn Hills videos for the last few weeks trying to get up to speed. Damn, that girl can apply make up, she's really made me up my highlighter game! I scoured my make up collection looking for the perfect "lit from within" candidate and came across Mac Whisper Of Gilt. strobing

I have no idea when I bought it, apparently it's a pretty sort after limited edition product. (But there are a few rumblings that it could be coming back in a new collection soon) so that's why I decided to use it and oh baby is it a beaute!

I'm sure you've all heard of the phrase "Strobing" by now but if you're still a little confused let me fill you in. Strobing is where you emphasise the parts of your face (or body) that would naturally be hit by the light, so the tops of your cheekbones, cupids bow, bridge of the nose and collarbone.

I'm definitely no contouring expert, but a couple of sweeps of goddess inducing, highlighting powder is easy peasy. Now I know this highlighter is (currently) limited edition and is pretty much impossible to get your hands on, so I've popped a few other alternatives below, to make sure your "highlight is always on fleek"

Seventeen Skin Wow Primer

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal
Bare Minerals All Over Face Colour in Pure Radiance

Have you tried "Strobing" Or are you strictly a contour girl? Let me know what your go-to highlighter is.

XOXO Claire

  1. Highlighter looks so pretty and looks good on you. I still prefer contouring over strobing. I like Mary Lou Manizer, it is really pigmented and nice :) x

  2. I think I'm more into bronzing than contouring, and I do love an intense highlight. That highlighter is gorgeous! I'm so upset I missed out on it. I really hope they relaunch it, but I'm sure getting it will be a battle even if they bring it back for a limited time.

  6. I go back and forth, right now I like to bronze my whole face but that could change tomorrow haha. I think it might be coming back in a Christmas collection, that's what I've read anyway :)

  8. I think I might agree with you, it's so much fresher, contouring can look a little harsh :)

  13. Aww thank you so much, it's been 3 and a half years and I've lost 6 stone so far. It's definitely a learning curve and not an easy fix like some people think. I still have my bad days but you just need to take one day at a time. Good luck with your own journey! :)
