Product Review: Makeup Geek Eyeshadows (Matte & Foiled) & Swatches

Makeup Geek Eyeshadows have been huge news over the other side of the pond for years, Jaclyn Hill's swatch video in particular made me desperate to get my manicured mitts on some for myself. But I'm not gonna lie, the chance of extra import charges did put me off.

Thankfully Beauty Bay (Link) heard our cries of beauty desperation and just before Christmas started stocking a bunch of MG products including, Brushes, Blushes, Pigments, Glitters & most importantly their Eyeshadows. It didn't take me long to (almost) fill a Small Z Palette (Link), so today I thought I would show you the shades I picked up and give my first impressions.

So, lets start with my Matte/Shimmer shades. I only bought three, as I'm more of a metallic girl at heart (which I'll get to in a second) but you can never go wrong with a few neutral, everyday shadows.

Shimma Shimma | Is a lovely light, gold toned shimmer (hence the name) that's gorgeous on the inner corners.
Creme Brule | A matte, warm toned light brown - aka the best transitional shade I've come across!
Mocha | The perfect matte, natural brown, crease colour.

These eyeshadows are so inexpensive, each pan costs just £4.99, which for Mac-like quality is unbelievable in my opinion. They are so buttery soft and pigmented, just a tap of your brush picks up more than enough product. I never thought I would say this but.. Mac who?

Just take a look at how buttery these shadows are:

Now lets move on to the true showstoppers - the Foiled Eyeshadows. Holy moly, these eyeshadows have to be seen to be believed. Imagine using Fix + on a regular eyeshadow, how intense it makes the colour. Well, these shadows already have that high metallic, almost wet looking - foiled finish, that really does take your breath away. I picked out four shades:

Magic Act | A pure metallic gold.
Flamethrower | A true brunt copper.
Houdini | A unique, metallic blue/green pan of goodness!
Grandstand |A stunning (again) metallic bronze with a hint of rose gold and my overall favourite shade.

Now these shades do cost a little more than their matte counterparts coming it at £7.99 each, but even then compared to Mac, that's cheap as chips and honestly, the quality is straight up perfection and worth every penny!

One of my favourite go-to eye looks is using, Creme Brule through the crease, Grandstand patted all over the lid with Mocha in the outer corner and Shimma Shimma on the inner corners of my eyes. It's so pretty, and it really works with so many different lip colour combinations. I can literally see no cons to these shadows, they have well and truly blown me away and I implore you to pick up a few shades if you're a fellow eyeshadow fan! I really like these eyeshadows, can you tell? haha

What do you think of the Makeup Geek Eyeshadows? Have you tried them yet, if so what shades do you recommend, I have two spots open so leave me your recommendations in the comments.
