What's In My Z Palette? (Mac, Makeup Geek & Nars)

Ever since Christmas when I received my first Makeup Geek Eyeshadow, I've become slightly obsessed with my Z Palette and filling it. I've even upgraded from the small travel size to the second largest because my collection is continuously growing. As well as my eyeshadows from Makeup Geek, they also house a few Mac shades, plus my newly de-potted Nars duos. I thought it might be fun to give you a tour of "What's In My Z Palette" and show you swatches of everything, especially considering eyeshadow is one of my biggest beauty vices.

So we'll start with the largest palette which holds 15 of my MG shadows and 3 Mac ones. Sidenote: If you fancy seeing what my palette looked like before I upgraded, read my Makeup Geek First Impressions Post.

Makeup Geek Eyeshadows, Mac, Nars, Z Palette
I honestly have nothing bad to say about the Makeup Geek Eyeshadows,
they are so inexpensive, especially considering the outstanding quality! You just need to look at the swatches below to understand what I'm talking about. I hardly ever use my Mac shadows anymore, they just can't compete, but I will still show you them all the same.

Makeup Geek Eyeshadows
Starting with the top row:
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Swatches
L-R  Shimma Shimma  /  Creme Brule  /  Coco Bear  /  Mocha  /  Homecoming  /  Prom Night.

The majority of this first row are some of my most used eyeshadows, particularly Creme Brule and Shimma Shimma which I mention time and time again, sorry.  I'm like a broken record when it comes to those two. All of these colours are either mattes of shimmers, with Prom Night being one of my more recent acquisitions. It's such a gorgeous, unique colour and one that I was definitely missing from my collection.

Moving onto the real showstoppers in the whole MG eyeshadow line, the Foiled shadows.

Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow Swatches
L-R  Starry Eyed  /  Magic Act  /   Whimsical  /   In The Spotlight  /   Grandstand  /   Flamethrower.

These are without a doubt my all time favourite formulation of eyeshadows, they really put Mac to shame (as you will see below). Grandstand is definitely my most used shade, it's just so metallic especially when you add Fix+. Whimsical is my newest "foiled" addition and it's beautiful, especially in the inner corner, it's so different to the rest of my palette. As for the other shades, I think the swatches speak for themselves.

Mac Eyeshadow Swatches
L_R  MG Mesmerised  /  MG Houdini  /  Mac Sumptuous Olive  /  Mac Sable /  Mac Brule.

Just a couple more Foiled shadows, possibly my most "out of my comfort zone" shades. Houdini is stunning, I just need to figure out how to wear it because it's so pigmented. Like a complete dumbo I totally forgot to swatch the shade Charmed (oops), I only realised when writing this post, so sorry about that #badbeautyblogger. I do have a few Mac eyeshadows but the majority, apart from these three are housed in other palettes. Though I really don't use them very much, just because of how much more pigmented the MG shadows are! Brule barely shows up at all in comparison.

Now lets crack open my smaller Z Palette. A few weeks ago I decided to tackle my Nars Eyeshadow Duos and attempted to depot them, maybe not the best idea I've ever had but... well,  I'll let you judge for yourself.

Depotted Nars Eyeshadow Duos
Nars Alhambra Eyeshadow Swatches
Alhambra Duo  /  Melusine  /  Tzarine.

There may have been some casualties and a few didn't make it, RIP Pleasures In Paris Palette. So I only have two complete duos, FYI if you're after a gorgeous golden eyeshadow, I most definitely recommend Alhambra! Habanera on the other hand is one of those "I have no I idea why I bought this" moments, don't get me wrong it's gorgeous but I just never use it.

Nars Habanera Eyeshadow Swatches
Habanera Duo  /  Violetta  /  Nepal.

These palette are so handy, especially the smaller size, it's perfect for traveling or your everyday makeup bag. You can pick up Z Palettes from Beauty Bay if you fancy starting your own eyeshadow collection.

What's inside your Z Palette? Have you added any MG Eyeshadows to your collection yet?

XOXO Claire

  3. I love the little small Z-palette that's perfect for travel! I just picked up my first z-palette at Imats a few weeks back and put my Sugarpill shadows in it! Loving how sleek it is and know I'll invest in more soon.
