May 2016 Beauty Favourites

I've discovered so many amazing beauty products over the last month, it was hard to narrow my favourites down, as May really was a fantastic month for makeup launches, particularly from the Drugstore, it's so hot it's on fire. So let me run you through the products that have not left my dressing table all month.

A pitcure of all the beauty products I've been loving in the month of May 2016
I very rarely buy fragrances, so it's quite unusual for one to pop up in a favourites post, but I got a sample of this in a Sephora order and I just couldn't get the scent out of my head. So armed with a 25% off code for Feel Unique, I made a naughty purchase and I've been dowsing myself in it since. It's your stereotypical "Summer" scent and with a name like "Beach Walk" would you expect anything else? It's got notes of bergamot, ylang ylang, and coconut and smells fresh and sweet, it's just beautiful and don't get me started on the bottle, it's pure Parisian chic.

This is the only foundation I've used consistently all month. It's light, but can be built up for medium coverage and because it's water based it feels cooling on the skin. You can read my Tarte Foundation Review Here.

Ok ok, I'll try to stop banging on about this contour stick, but I'm seriously obsessed with it. If you read my Contouring For Pale Skin Post you'll already know that. The creamy formulation and easy to use bullet shaped stick, makes creating razor sharp cheekbones in just three swipes, foolproof.

Makeup in miniature form is always going to be a winner, but this blush is absolutely divine. It sure packs a peachy pink punch considering it's size. It's butter like texture just sinks into the skin and locks into place, staying put for hours.

Colourpop makeup swatches
I tried a sample of this cleansing balm a few months ago and despite telling myself that I couldn't possibly justify the ridiculous amount of money the full size costs, I went ahead and bought it, in an hour of madness and I hate to say it, but it's fantastic. I use it as my second cleanse, so I remove the bulk of my makeup with the Garnier Micellar Water, then apply a small amount of this balm. It just melts off any remaining bits of mascara and leaves my skin incredibly soft. A little really goes a long way, which is lucky considering the eye watering price, but I can't deny how great my skin has been looking this last month.

Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow in La La
The texture of this eyeshadow is so unusual, it's a firm mousse, but it has a bounce to it, it's very strange. The colour though is absolutely stunning, you know I love my metallic rose golds, but this one is on another level. I recently did a post all about How To Get Colourpop Shipped To The UK, if you fancy trying some of their products for yourself, so pop along to that post to see this eyeshadow in more detail.

Yet another Colourpop addition, am I starting to sound like a broken record? I hope not. After years of declaring my love for bright lipsticks, I've finally started to understand why the world love nude lipstick's, thank to this creamy Peachy Pink Lippie Stix. It has a stain finish, but it lasts a surprisingly long time on the lips.

I thought I'd also mention a few things I've been binge watching on Netflix, just I case you're looking for a few new shows to indulge in:

Friday Night Lights
If you're missing One Tree Hill and like small town sport dramas, you're going to love this one. It's set in a small Texas town and centres around the local high school American football team. Don't worry though, it's not all about sport there's some pretty hunky guys in it too hehe, it's just a really sweet, heartwarming show about family. Plus there's five season to enjoy.

Scream (The TV Show)
I recently re-watched this show ready for the second season, but if you haven't seen it yet, I definitely recommend it. It basically takes inspiration from the "Scream" movies and brings them up to date, into the social media age. Personally I don't find it that scary, it's very much a teen/ high-school themed show, so if you like Pretty Little Liars you might like this. Though unlike A, you do find out who the killer is at the end of the season.

Reign
So this one may not be new to me, I've been addicted since Christmas but I really think more people should be watching it. It's so good, think an historic Gossip Girl, meets Game Of Thrones (the PG version).

Ok now it's your turn, I need a few more recommendations: I already have The Tudors and I Zombie on my list but I need some more so go on... my pen's ready. Also let me know what products you're been loving this month?

XOXO Claire

  3. Oh gosh, you have one of the Replica scents, I'm so jealous! I've been drooling after them ever since they launched on FeelUnique, but they're just so pricey.. Maybe I'll make a wish for my birthday in the fall :D xx

  4. The Maybelline contour stick sounds great, I'm really into cream contours at the moment - i've been really enjoying the Sleek cream contour palette. I just made my first colour pop order, I'm so excited to get! xx

  5. It's absolutely gorgeous, it is expensive but considering the price of the Tom Ford one I was lusting after, it's a basically a bargain haha :)

  6. Oooh how exciting, I was literally sat on my doorstep waiting for the postman haha, the quality is just ridiculous considering the price. I was never a cream contour fan, until I tried this duo stick, it's fantastic :)

  7. Yes to SO many of these things, particularly the TV shows. I love both Friday Night Lights and Reign - great choices. If you're somewhat into scifi/fantasy Merlin is a good option too! I'm just catching up on the season finales and then I'll be on the hunt to start a new show - my coworkers recommended Orphan Black so I may need to give that a go too.

I've been wanting to try a bunch of the beauty faves you listed - in particular the Tarte foundation and the Omorovicza cleansing balm - I have a sample but I'm afraid that if I use it I will most certainly buy it. Just trying to finish up what I have before then.

    Great favorites! :)

  10. Thank you, I'm completely up to date with Orphan Black and it's great, the main actress is absolutely amazing, I definitely recommend it! I really want to hate the cleansing balm, it cots a small fortune, but it is one of the nicest ones I've tried, I don't think I'll be able to make it a regular purchase but I'm certainly going to enjoy using it :)

  24. I thought the Tarte foundation sounded interesting, but now you've convinced me I need to try it! I've not had chance to have a sniff of any of the Replica perfumes yet either, but the way you describe this one and the fact I am 100% ready to embrace summer now might mean I have to make a naughty purchase. Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess is my usual summer scent, but I'm a little bored of it now so this sounds like the perfect alternative :) xxx

  28. Oh my goodness I have been lusting over that fragrance for ages, but that brand costs a small fortune here in Australia! It is such a beautiful scent though! And the cleansing balm!!! Please say it is the worst purchase you have ever made because I have been holding back from purchasing it (it also costs a small fortune haha) but everyone seems to love it, I don't think I can resist for much longer. I also LOVE Reign!!! I agree, not enough people watch it (especially my friends!) Are you up to date? Tweet me what you think of the episodes hehe xx

  29. Aww that's such a shame, why doe brands have to hike up prices of things it's so unfair. Yes the cleansing balm, ahem, I wish I could tell you that it's rubbish, I really want to, but it's lovely. My skin has been pretty much blemish free for the last month and that hardly ever happens to me, which I think definitely has something to do with this balm and a few other things. I am most definitely up to date on Reign, I'm so sad the seasons nearly over, but there is going to be a fourth, so that makes me happy! :)
