What's In My Current Summer Makeup Bag 2016?

Well hello there beauty bloggers, long time no speak. I won't give a long spiel about why I've been absent for nearly a month, sometimes you just need a break, you know? Though I do think my family are sick and tired of my constant beauty talk, so I'm glad there are a few people out there (hopefully) who don't mind reading about my recent makeup related ramblings. I thought I would ease myself back in slowly with a little look inside my current "Summer" (I use that word loosely) makeup bag. There are a few recent acquisitions and a couple of much loved favourites, but either way it's always fun to have a nosy inside, I think a makeup bag says a lot about a woman, don't you think? So lets have a riffle through shall we, it's definitely packed to the brim...

What's In My Current Summer Makeup Bag 2016?
Can we first address quite possibly the cutest, most user friendly makeup bag in existence, the Alphabet Make Up Bag from Oliver Bonas. It's so aesthetically pleasing, grey initialed canvas, with a poppin turquoise double zip, basically me in a makeup bag. It's also self standing which gives easy access and stops your lip-liners spilling everywhere. Ok, moving on to the good stuff:

My base has stayed pretty consistent over the last month. I've been applying one pump of the Becca Backlight Priming Filter on my freshly moisturized face to inject a gorgeous golden glow. Following up with my ultimate summer staple, the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream. My skin has been behaving its self lately (she says, typing with a giant hormonal spot on her chin), so I just want something light that covers the majority of my imperfections. I really wish this CC Cream was available in the UK, there's seriously a gap in the market for a high coverage CC Cream.

I've reverted back to my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer because it really is the only thing that hides my ridiculous eye bags at the moment. Note to self: I really need to drink more water! One of my most used, multi-purpose products, that's always stashed in my makeup bag is the Burberry Skin Light Glow Blush in "07 Earthy Blush". It's the perfect contour and all over the lid shade in one dinky compact. If you fancy seeing this shade in more detail, I mention it in my "1 Wash Eyeshadow Post".

Both the Becca "Jaclyn Hill" Champagne Glow Palette & Estee Lauder "Bronze Goddess" Summer Glow Palette have been on constant rotation over the last few months, fulfilling all my blush and highlighter needs. The bright pink shade leaves a lovely flush to the cheeks and Champagne Pop has been making my highlight, literally pop! I know these palettes are limited edition, so if you can get your hands on one or both - do it.

I think for the first time in my "Brows" history I'm not mentioning my Hourglass Sculpting Pencil, instead I've decided to give the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer a fair trial. So far I would say they are pretty similar, each having the slanted edge, though the Anastasia shade (in Soft Brown) is more warm toned. To enhance my brown eyes, I've been loving running this NYX Slide On Pencil in "Golden Bronze" along my upper lashline, it gives a soft, yet smoky look that adds a bit of colour and dimension, but it's still subtle.

A rediscovery that's now a revelation is the Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes Mascara. I loved it when I first bought it, but now I've become obsessed with this mascara. I don't know whether it's because it's a little old and the formulas more dried up, but it gives my lashes so much volume, without flaking I hasten to add.

There's no such thing as too many lip products in my book, a girl needs options, even if they are all in the "Nude" colour family. You know there's always going to be a couple of liquid lipsticks in my makeup bag and today is no exception. Three of my most recent favourites have been the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in "Lovestick" , Colourpop Lippie Stix in "Lumiere" & NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in "Zurich". All three dry matte, but are still super comfortable on the lips. You can see from the swatches below that all of these shades are a bit of a departure for me, nope not a red in sight.

My perfect "Nude" lip combination over that last few weeks has most definitely been the Too Faced Colour Drenched Lip Cream Lipstick in "Naked Dolly" over the top of my beloved Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in "Pillow Talk". Alone the Too Faced lipstick is a little too peach on me, but when combined with said lip liner, they make such a pretty easy to wear, everyday lip that doesn't wash out my pale skin.

A picture of some of my favourite nude lipsticks swatched I may have treated myself to the Tom Ford Neroli Portofino Acqua Perfume, as a (very) late birthday present, so I've pretty much been bathing in this scent recently. It's a lighter fresher version of the original Neroli Porofino, with a hint more citrus.

I must say it feels really good to be back writing, I can't say I've missed the photography aspect, but I do love a good beauty ramble. Let me know what's currently in your "Summer Makeup Bag"?

XOXO Claire

  2. That Estee Lauder is absolutely stunning! I was hoping to buy that It Cosmetics CC cream when I was in the US but didn't get to an Ulta so I bought Urban Decay One & Done. It's still on my wishlist though. Great to see you back! xx

  3. Great picks! I agree, the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer works wonderfully for covering anything under my eyes. I also really like the Bobbi Brown Correctors. They also cover really well!

  5. Aww thank you, I think it's good to take a break every now and then, but I'm excited to be back. I had to go in so many Ultas to find it, but it was so worth it! Ooh I haven't heard anything about the Urban Decay one, interesting... :)

  6. Thank you, my under eye circles are so bad at the moment, it's the only thing that will cover them. Though I probably should drink more water, that would help haha :)
